Located in the heart of the forest, Camp de bûcherons is a prime location for outdoor activities in all seasons. Culture enthusiasts will also find an interpretation centre and a pavilion where shows and other activities are presented.

Hiking and snowshoeing trails

The Camp de bûcherons site offers access to two superb trails. You will enjoy walking them in summer or autumn surrounded by flamboyant colours, then snowshoeing them in winter or spring through the snowy landscape. Note that snowshoes can be rented on the premises at a cost of $10 per day.

  • The Chaîne de Roches trail is an easy 3-km round trip.
  • The intermediate mountain trail is 4-km round trip. It offers a magnificent view of the mountain range and connects to the boardwalk trail, which is part of the Panoramic Trails network.

Discover the captivating history of the Saint-François-d’Assise lumber camps, where logging and forest management are still the main economic activities today. On the premises, you will find photos, objects and works of art that will immerse you in a rich heritage full of anecdotes and memories.

Shows and activities

During the summer, the Camp de bûcherons organises various activities, including shows, in its outdoor pavilion. It can also be rented for your own events.

Staying at Camp de bûcherons gives you easy access to the attractions and activities in the Matapédia-et-les-Plateaux region. This region lies in the western part of the MRC d’Avignon, on the Gaspé Peninsula, and includes the municipalities of Saint-François-d’Assise, L’Ascension-de-Patapédia, Saint-André-de-Restigouche, Saint-Alexis-de-Matapédia and Matapédia.
